Stringbeans

Picture
#JuneFunFood Stringbeans are available all year.  However the best time to eat them is during the summer and the fall.  Stringbeans contain several vitamins such as K, C, A, B1, B2, B3, Iron, Folate, Calcium and Potassium.  In addition to being a dietary fiber, they contain Omega 3 Fatty Acids.  Stringbeans are incredibly low in calories.  They are great as a cooked side dish, in a salad or as a snack between meals.  When purchasing fresh stringbreans look for a bright green color.  Avoid stringbeans with dark marks and blemishes.  If all else fails, listen for the snapping sound that the stringbean makes when broken as an indicator of its freshness.  Look at the picture included with this post.  These stringbeans are from my local farmers' market.  They look so wonderful.  Don't miss out on this June fun food

XOXOXOX
