Judy Hevrdejs of the Chicago Tribune Newspaper published an article on taste testing gluten free flours. This article was also published in The Palm Beach Post on March 14, 2014.  The article ranked gluten free flours on a scale of 1 to 5 on taste, texture and flavor.  Below are the results and the link to the Chicago Tribune.

Much to my surprise Betty Crocker has gluten free All Purpose Rice Flour Blend.  I have not seen any promotions for this product. This is quite disappointing.  Betty Crocker makes great tasting box gluten free products such as chocolate fudge cake, yellow cake, chocolate cookie and brownie mix.  I will look for this product in my local stores.

I have not used all of the products tested.  But I have tried both the King Arthur and Glutino flours.  The King Arthur flour is my favorite of the two.  I have also included photos of these products to help you identify them in stores.

Barilla’s gluten free pasta is quite tasty.  I was initially hesitant to try the pasta, but I was pleasantly surprised.  The pasta did not have any after taste.  It held the shape of the elbow after cooking. I also enjoy the flavor of the pasta without anything on it.  I used this pasta in a dish that had red sauce and mozzarella cheese.  The next time I use this pasta, it will be in a macaroni salad.  I will definitely purchase this pasta again.

My gluten free chocolate cupcakes with vanilla butter cream frosting. These cupcakes are moist and tasty.  I love it when people taste my cupcakes and cannot believe they are gluten free. Gluten Free doesn't get better than this!

The Gluten Free Eye was a participant at Stage Fest 2014 at The Loew's Jersey.  Stage Fest featured 20+ hours of performance in theater, music an dance.

I love snacks!  This is my gluten free spin on a classic cookie.  Two peanut butter cookies with a vanilla butter cream center.  This cookie is a nice compliment to a cool glass of rice milk or a nice cup of tea.  I packed these delicious treats in a plastic bag and eat on the go!
