Do not forget about the glutens in your toothpaste. Never assume a product is gluten free. Toothpaste is a necessary oral hygiene product. Sometimes it is difficult to determine if toothpaste products are gluten free. This can lead one to display Celiac, gluten intolerance and other symptoms without knowing the cause. I was introduced to SprinJene Toothpaste at the October GFAF Expo. Much to my surprise, I could not tell that this toothpaste is Gluten free, Halal, Kosher and Vegan from its taste. I found SprinJene to be reasonably priced. It can be purchased from Amazon for $5.95 and it is worth the cost. XOXOXOX Dawn

Be prepared to change the way you think about herbs! The concept of a spray on herbs will definitely change the way we stock our spice cabinet. XOXOXOXOX Dawn You do not have to spend a lot of money or time decorating your Thanksgiving Day table. Try using nature’s elements! The changing color of leaves and pine cones falling from trees are perfect for decorating. They represent the season and provide bright and vivid colors. You can place the leaves and cones in a clear vase, around candles, in a bowl and/or scatter throughout the table. Remember the higher the centerpiece the more likely it will obstruct the view of people as they attempt to talk. Low centerpieces make it easier for your guest to engage with each other.
XOXOXOXOX Dawn ![]() Have no fear....you can do this! Hosting Thanksgiving can be fun but the preparations can be stressful. Here are a few tips to help ease your anxiety. 1. Ask someone in the family to assist you. Teenagers are great helpers. The process of organizing a family feast will turn into a family tradition. In reality you will be helping each other. Your teen will receive experience with planning a family meal and you will have a high energy person to help you. This also provides a mentoring experience for your teen. 2. Make a shopping list and an activity list. Be sure to cross items off after purchasing and completing tasks. This will help to keep track of what has been accomplished and what remains outstanding. 3. Do not wait for the last minute to do things. Rushing around will increase your stress and lessen your enjoy of the holiday. Naturally there will always be last minute things to do, but you want to reduce the quantity. 4. Have your favorite tea, coffee or hot chocolate handy. Take a few minutes between tasks to enjoy your favorite beverage. I like to read blogs and watch YouTube videos between cooking tasks. This ensures that I am relaxing and short breaks make it easier for me to return to the tasks at hand. 5. Try to enjoy Thanksgiving Day. Remember the day is about being with family and friends, appreciating the time that you have together and eating lots of food. XOXOXOX Dawn Overall thoughts of this product is that is has a great taste. It is quick and easy to prepare. It has a reasonable price point. For specific details, please watch the full video review.
XOXOXOX Dawn Your seasoning can make or break a dish. As a Celiac, I prefer to use fresh herbs when preparing meals, especially my Thanksgiving Day feast. Fresh Rosemary, Sage, Parsley, Celery, Onions, Garlic, red and green Peppers are incorporated into several of my dishes. I love the smell of fresh herbs. Their aromatic flavors are released with every chop, slice and dice.
In my house the smell of fresh herbs on Thanksgiving Day always prompts my oldest son to volunteer to be the food taster. This tradition began when he was 4 years old. He would run into my kitchen multiple times over the course of an hour to ask me what I was cooking and he would insist on tasting everything that I was preparing. This has continued to be an on-going event for the last 22 years. In addition to knowing that there are no hidden ingredients in fresh herbs, there are benefits to eating them. For example, here are a couple of tips on the nutritional value of these herbs. Fresh Rosemary is known for its folic acid, vitamins A and C. Sage fresh or dried, is a rich source of minerals like potassium, zinc, calcium, iron, manganese, copper, and magnesium. Parsley is a good source of folic acid, vitamins A and C. Celery is a good source of vitamin K, folate, potassium, dietary fiber, manganese and pantothenic acid. Onions are best known for making the eyes watery while slicing. In spite of this, Onions are also known for providing vitamin C. Garlic which is best known for its protection against vampires also has nutritional benefits. Garlic is a source of manganese and vitamin B6, vitamin C, copper and its ability to assist with fighting common colds. Fresh herbs provide vibrant colors to foods. They can turn a side dish into a piece of art with their pops of color. I highly recommend incorporating them into your everyday life. XOXOXOXOX Dawn Did you know that there could be glutens in the main attraction of your Thanksgiving dinner? Yes, your turkey could potentially contain glutens. I know this is a frightening thought. But it is true. Before you purchase your bird, do some research and make sure that your turkey is gluten free.
I prepare a turkey breast from Shady Brook Farms for Thanksgiving dinner. The packaging clearly states that it is gluten free. Shady Brook Farms’ turkey breasts and turkeys can be found in most supermarkets. I typically purchase my turkey breast at my local Shoprite. Also, if you are not good at determining when your turkey is done, Shady Brook Farms turkeys and turkey breast have the timer that pops out when your turkey/breast is fully cooked. XOXOXOX Dawn |
